Flashpaste is a new breed of text copying software. The System clipboard is enough for most computer users but writers, coders, and developers need a more powerful, easily customizable and practical tool. Flashpaste is all that, and more.
Flashpaste has two key features. The first is smart text insertion. While writing e-mails or creating documents, people frequently copy and paste the same words, phrases, greetings, e-mail addresses and URLs. This is especially true for those who provide technical support via e-mail, because most boilerplate questions have already been asked and answered numerous times. Flashpaste is also a handy tool for web developers and web designers to easily insert repeated snippets of HTML code.
With our copy paste tool, a user "programs in" frequently used addresses, e-mail text blocks, HTML codes, words, phrases and paragraphs. Then, the templates can be inserted by just pressing a hotkey to launch a selection list, and choosing the desired item to paste.
Flashpaste can also be used to create special macros, strings that are either replaced or processed by an application. Using macros, you can paste current time and date, add commands that emulate pressing the Tab or Enter keys, and more.
Clipboard history is the second feature. While the standard Windows clipboard keep only the last copied text segment, Flashpaste records all recently copied texts, data or pictures, allowing easily reuse. This feature eliminates repeated copying and pasting, and is tremendously useful for people who work with text.

CTRL-C, CTRL-V is definitely one of the most used shortcuts in Windows till date. Users needs to copy large or small amounts of data while working in the office environment every few minutes. It's quite useful if you have a lot of apps running and you need to copy and paste some text between them. Although Windows copy/paste mechanism does have certain limitations, it saves only one text string in the clipboard at a time. An alternative methods are clipboard extenders like Flashpaste. It caries most used strings to the internal database and user can insert any saved text into text boxes. The thing that struck me was the way and ease at which it was carrying out its work. Flashpaste puts a small control to the opened document when you can select related text message. The configuration lets you perform a few customizations, like inserting new strings or enabling taskbar icon, setting hotkey and some clipboard-related tasks. So you can see, Flashpaste is useful to me. It has definitely helped increase my productivity in day-to-day tasks. I have found it to be unique, very stable, and unmatched in this category. |
